Meet the New Accounting and Business Law Faculty
We are excited to welcome Michael Rodriguez, Kevin Hee and Owen Davidson to the Department of Accounting and Business Law.
Michael Rodriguez
- What factor(s) played an important role in coming to Baylor?
For me, the fact that Baylor remains devoted to its Christian mission was primary. Of course, when you couple that with the love for students that faculty clearly demonstrate, academic rigor, research excellence, and the overall college experience, including sports, it was a very easy decision. I have a unique perspective, as my wife and I have two kids in the class of 2023, and prior to joining faculty, I have served the past four years as a business executive in Waco. Baylor’s impact on Waco, on Texas and on the world has been evident in every circle I have observed. It is already proving to be fulfilling beyond my expectations.
- What activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
I enjoy running and working out—need to do more—and my wife and I enjoy traveling, particularly abroad. On a more day-to-day basis, I enjoy family time, having coffee with friends and serving at our church wherever possible. I love music—a pretty vast array of genres—and am an avid college football fan. Oh yeah, did I mention coffee?
Kevin Hee
- What factor(s) played an important role in coming to Baylor?
Initially, Baylor’s reputation as a faith-based institution and national reputation are what drew me here. But, after interviewing with the department faculty, the overwhelming feeling of colleagues who are supportive and walking with the Lord are what made the decision to come to Baylor an easy one.
- What activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
Outside of spending time with my wife and playing with our four kids, I love surfing—yes, I’ve been to Waco Surf and yes, it is incredibly fun. I also enjoy watching all sports, college and professional.
Owen Davidson
- What factor(s) played an important role in coming to Baylor?
An important factor for me coming to Baylor is the University’s dual commitment to excellence in both teaching and research. Baylor faculty truly care about their students. At the same time, it is an exciting time to be doing research at Baylor because the University is making significant investments to elevate its research profile. Overall, there is a lot of energy at the University right now, and I am excited to be a part of it.
- What activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, mountain biking or walking. I also dabble on the guitar and spend as much time as I can with my wife and two kids.
