A team of six Accounting and Business Law students from the Hankamer School of Business are advancing to compete in Deloitte’s national 2022 Audit Innovation Campus Challenge (AICC). The Baylor team is one of 12 teams selected for the national competition out of 45 colleges and universities.

Team members are juniors Hayden Allen, Grace Benedict, Megan Gelber, Abby Kemper, and Andrew Wydner, and sophomore Andrew Cayasso. The faculty advisor for the competition is Associate Professor of Accounting Owen Brown.

"Through this national competition, students gain the opportunity to bring forth their creative ideas in an environment that values innovative solutions. Students are also stretched to identify novel ways to implement their proposed solution while gaining valuable experience collaborating with peers and assurance professionals," Brown said.

In this annual competition, teams are tasked with illustrating how cutting-edge audit technologies could be applied to a real-world business issue. This year’s challenge statement asks students to explore the role of the audit and assurance profession in companies’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting. For the preliminary round, teams submitted written submissions for evaluation by a panel of judges consisting of Deloitte audit and assurance professionals.

The national competition will be held April 7th-8th at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas.
