October 26, 2021

Baylor University took the 1st place team finish at the 2021 National Team Selling Competition (NTSC) hosted by Indiana University-Bloomington. Student teams from 27 universities participated in this competition which focused on a robotic device for food preparation in convenience stores. Alexa Black, Brian Galbraith, Beth Gosnell, and Gavin Hartoonian, all seniors in the Professional Selling program, represented Baylor in this team-based competition. The Baylor team was coached by Dr. Stephanie Mangus and student coaches, Matthew Mouton and Benjamin Nopper. After two days of competitions involving sales exchanges with executives from 3M and Altria, the Baylor team took the first place finish overall.

The timing structure of this competition introduces additional pressure on students as they received the case and rubric just two weeks prior to competing. However, as Gavin Hartoonian notes, "Baylor's Professional Selling program cultivates individuals with a heart to grow through challenging experiences. This National Team Selling Competition was no different. Receiving a case two weeks before competing, fully immersing into an unknown industry, and investing multiple hours of practice each day, represented a challenge. Yet, this incredible group of competitors and coaches was unified through this experience and ultimately secured the victory. It is in the most challenging of times that I find myself most grateful for the experience and preparation through the Baylor ProSales program."

The 27 participating universities included Baylor University, Bowling Green State University, Brigham Young University, Ferris State University, Florida International University, Indiana State University, Indiana University, Manchester University, Marian University, Michigan State University, Morehouse College, Northern Illinois University, Southern New Hampshire University, University of Kansas, University of Missouri, University of New Mexico, University of North Alabama, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, University of Richmond, University of San Diego, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Utah State University, Villanova University, Weber State University, Winona State University, and Xavier University of Louisiana.
