Baylor’s S3 Students Take Home Top Three Finishes at National Championships

March 15, 2023

Students from the Hankamer School of Business Sports Strategy and Sales (S3) program finished in the top three at multiple national championship competitions last month.

Baylor S3 sent students to the National Collegiate Sports Analytics Championship in Dallas from Feb. 1-2 and the National Collegiate Sports Sales Championships in Atlanta from Feb. 27-28. More than 60 schools from around the country attended the competitions, both of which are owned and operated by Baylor S3.

"The success in these competitions, particularly given the strong emphasis on integrity, suggests our students are becoming the principled leaders that Baylor, the Business School and the S3 program are known for around the country," Lane Wakefield, clinical assistant professor of Marketing and director of the S3 program, said.

Jarrett Horner participated at the Sports Analytics Championship in Dallas, earning second place in the Business Analytics division. At the Sports Sales Championships in Atlanta, Liam McColgan received third place in the Corporate Partnerships Division and Baylor’s Speed Sell team took third place in their competition. Team members include Juls Zeh, Jacob Knighton, Sara Spitaletto, Pierce McBride and Blake Fenn. Wakefield served as coach and advisor for the team.

"We are incredibly proud of our S3 students' successes this year," Sandeep Mazumder, the William E. Crenshaw Endowed Dean of the Business School, said. "We strive for experiential and innovative learning opportunities at the Hankamer School of Business, and the S3 program is a perfect example of providing students these experiences."
