Professional Summary
Tisha Emerson, PhD, is a professor of Economics and the inaugural Hankamer Teaching Fellow. She has been on the Baylor faculty since the fall of 2000.
Emerson actively engages in the area of economic education—both in terms of research and disciplinary service. Her research primarily focuses on the efficacy of active learning techniques in promoting student learning in economics and on understanding and addressing the lack of gender and racial/ethnic diversity in economics. Emerson serves on the Committee on Economic Education of the American Economic Association, the program committee for the Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education and as a facilitator for EDUCATE (Expanding Diversity in Undergraduate Classes with Advancements in the Teaching of Economics). She also serves as a co-editor for the Southern Economic Journal, on the Editorial Board for the International Review of Economics Education and on the Advanced Placement Macroeconomics Development Committee. In 2016, she was awarded the Kenneth G. Elzinga Distinguished Teaching Award by the Southern Economic Association.
