Baylor Ranks Among the Top at the National Collegiate Sales Competition

We are excited to announce that Baylor University’s sales team ranked 13th out of 70 universities this month at the 22nd National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC), sponsored by Kennesaw State University. In this competition, 135 students competed in this competition in a virtual format.

Role Play competitor Hannah de la Torre advanced through three rounds of competitions to make it to the Semi-Final Round which included the top 16 out of 135 competitors. Austin Greene participated in two rounds of role play competitions. Speed Sell competitor Hayes Alley took 1st place overall in the room in which he competed. The team was coached by Abby Haan, Josh Palermo, and ProSales Program Manager Brianna Steensen.

“I could not be more appreciative for this experience that Baylor ProSales gave me. I not only grew in my sales skills, but I also learned the importance of team work. As the competition progressed, I was Baylor’s last representative and we had an hour to prepare for the semifinals. Without my team and coaches, I would have never become a semi-finalist. I owe this success to all of them. My coaches harnessed my strengths and bettered my weaknesses, working tirelessly for the team and me. The students and staff associated with Baylor Professional Selling are the best in the country by a landslide and I can’t thank everyone enough!” shared Hannah de la Torre, a Junior in the Professional Selling program.

“I competed amongst 460 other individuals in the NCSC speed-sell competition. My teammates helped me to strengthen my elevator pitch, which was creative yet professional. As a result, I won 1st place in one of the eleven rooms (my room was hosted by Spectrum Enterprise). I learned a great deal from the experience. Thank you to Brianna Steensen and my fellow coaches in the Professional Selling department,” Hayes Alley, Senior in the Professional Selling program.

As the staff coach for the team, Brianna Steensen shared, “I enjoyed seeing our team identify their strengths and use those strengths to improve the team, as a whole. Starting with our first practice, the team worked together for the same common goal of representing Baylor ProSales well, on a national-level. It was an honor to coach such wonderful and committed students and watching their development, along the way.”
