Baylor Entrepreneurship Chair Wins AOM Mentor Award
Peter Klein, PhD, a department chair at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business, received the 2024 Mentor Award from the Academy of Management (AOM) earlier this month.
Klein, the chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation, is the first Baylor professor to earn the award, which recognizes exceptional mentoring activities in the field of entrepreneurship.
“Mentoring is an important part of academic training and I’ve been fortunate to have been mentored by some terrific scholars and teachers,” Klein said. “I’ve tried to pay it forward to my own PhD students and junior colleagues. It’s a privilege to work with great young minds and share the benefits of experience.”
Klein has mirrored the leadership of his own mentors, including his dissertation advisor Oliver Williamson, who won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2009. Klein hopes to continue to exemplify what the award represents.
“I’m grateful to the AOM Entrepreneurship Division for the recognition and look forward to working with junior scholars for many more years,” Klein said.
