Business School Launches New Minor-In-A-Summer Option
The Hankamer School of Business has launched a new program to enable non-Business majors at Baylor to receive a minor in Business in one summer.
The BASE program – Business Administration Summer Experience – condenses the existing 18-hour minor into a 15-hour program with additional components to satisfy the additional academic requirements.
According to Bradley Lail, PhD, associate dean of undergraduate programs at the Business School, the BASE program does not replace the existing Business minor, but offers a solution for students in other programs across campus who might not otherwise have time to integrate Business classes in their academic schedule.
“We see this as a valuable addition and offering for the university as a whole as it gives students a way to get a Business minor in a short amount of time,” Lail said. “There are a lot of students across the university who want to gain business acumen and who would benefit from combining a Business minor with their major.”
Lail said the BASE program will be an in-person cohort with integrated curriculum. Students will work May-August to earn the 15-hour minor, which would prepare students to pursue an MBA or for future advancement such as business ownership.
“In addition to the classes, students will have professional development opportunities and a special emphasis we’re calling Foundational Fridays,” Lail said. “This will involve student-faculty engagement, special entrepreneurial topics and workshops to develop skills in data analytics, among others.”
The BASE program launches in May 2025. For more information, visit hankamer.baylor.edu/undergraduate/base.
