Samuel Barron was honored with the Director's Chair Award in April 2025.

Receiving this distinguished award, Barron describes feeling “grateful and honored.” He attributed the award to both personal dedication and the collaborative spirit of Baylor University’s Robbins Healthcare MBA Program.

“This award isn’t just about me – it represents the collaboration and mentorship that define the Robbins program,” he said.

Growing up in a healthcare-focused household, Barron developed his drive toward healthcare early on, influenced by his parents, both of whom work in the profession. Their conversations about care and community instilled in him a deep appreciation for service. It also inspired him “to improve systems that affect countless lives.” This motivation led him to pursue a career in healthcare administration.

Barron’s commitment to making “an impact” was evident throughout his time in the Robbins Healthcare MBA program. He served as a graduate assistant for Forest Kim, PhD, where he co-authored a case prompt for the 2024 Robbins Institute annual case competition, an experience that sharpened his strategic thinking and collaboration skills. He also represented Baylor at the Business Alliance for Healthcare Management Case Competition in Denver, earning recognition for excellence in the Q&A portion.

During his residency at Ascension Providence in Waco, Barron embraced leadership by managing key operational projects and applying classroom principles in a real-world healthcare setting. He currently serves as a performance improvement coordinator at Ascension Providence in Waco. Here, he continues to enhance patient care and make a “tangible difference” through operational and project-based initiatives.

Reflecting on his Baylor experience, Barron expressed deep gratitude for the Robbins community that supported him. Guided by integrity and a commitment to serve, Samuel exemplifies the Robbins Institute vision of developing leaders who collaborate, innovate and shape the future of healthcare.
