Baylor Business Among Top Global Leaders in Entrepreneurship Research
Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business (HSB) has been ranked No. 6 in the world in the 2025 TCU Global University Entrepreneurship Research Productivity Rankings, putting Baylor among the most productive universities globally in entrepreneurship research.
The TCU Global Rankings, produced by the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University (TCU), tracks research articles in three leading academic journals – Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal – based on authorship and university affiliation. Baylor tied with TCU for the No. 6 position reflecting publications from 2020-2024.
This recognition highlights HSB’s continued leadership in advancing entrepreneurship as both a scholarly discipline and a field of practice.
Peter Klein, PhD, the W.W. Caruth Endowed Professor and Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation, said Baylor has long been a leader in undergraduate entrepreneurship education and programming, and consistent with Baylor’s standing as an R1 university, has become one of the world’s top centers for entrepreneurship research.
“It’s an honor to be recognized along with the entrepreneurship faculty at these other outstanding research universities,” Klein said. “The ranking acknowledges our leadership in entrepreneurship knowledge discovery and creation as well as our work in knowledge transmission.”
Klein emphasized that the department’s success reflects Baylor’s commitment to scholarly impact across research, teaching and outreach.
“Scholarly impact takes many forms, but publications in highly ranked peer-reviewed scientific journals are the main ‘currency’ of academic dialogue and debate,” he said. “We have recruited a group of elite researchers who are extending the knowledge frontier and bringing their findings into the classroom, the practitioner meeting and public policy debates.”
Baylor is one of only two universities ranked in the global top 10 for both entrepreneurship research productivity and undergraduate entrepreneurship education, a distinction that underscores the integration of theory and practice across its programs.
“A strength of our Entrepreneurship program is the synergy between our research, teaching and outreach efforts through research publications, our PhD program, our undergraduate and master’s curricula, and the activities of the Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise,” Klein said. “Being highly ranked in both research and teaching speaks to the balance and tight coordination across our entrepreneurship programs and we think this is a great formula for success.”
