Dean Mazumder Shares his top five reasons why gaining a global business education is a valuable and transformative experience

In an increasingly interconnected world, understanding global business is no longer optional – it is essential. Sandeep Mazumder, PhD, the William E. Crenshaw Endowed Dean of the Hankamer School of Business, shares his top five reasons why gaining a global business education is a valuable and transformative experience.

5. Being Good Citizens

By becoming better educated about global business and global affairs, it helps us become more informed citizens who participate in the democratic process back in our own home country.

4. Helps Appreciate Home

I love traveling overseas and seeing all of the amazing things other countries have to offer, but it also reminds me of the amazing blessings I have back in my home country and my hometown. Going overseas helps one develop a healthy perspective about our own home.

3. New Friends and Connections

Besides the sights, one can soon realize there are fantastic people and communities in these countries as well, who often have the same wants, desires and problems that we do. Visiting international business locations will help students spend time with and learn about these people.

2. Enrichment

Business students who go overseas or work with international partners will be greatly enriched by the experience, whether it’s by that country’s culture, sights, foods or other unique aspects. By having a global business education, one is very likely to gain a desire to explore the world and to visit all of God’s amazing creation.

1. Business is Global

In today’s world and economic landscape, many of the products that we consume have a global component to them. It could be electrical components in our cars that are produced overseas, or the fabrics in our clothing that are manufactured in other countries. If the products we buy and sell in business are global, then it is necessary to teach our students to have a global mindset, too.
