Welcome to Hankamer 2025

Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business (HSB) hosted the third annual Welcome to Hankamer event on Friday, Aug. 22, to introduce incoming students to the Business School.

“The Welcome to Hankamer event introduces first-year students to what it means to be part of a Christian business school,” said Laura Lalani, associate director of student success. “It highlights our mission and offers students a chance to connect in fellowship.”

The more than 800 students in attendance heard from David M. Szymanski, PhD, the William E. Crenshaw Endowed Dean, and other HSB leaders as they shared their past experiences and faith journeys. The discussion encouraged students to reflect on their faith and consider how it might shape their experience in business education, Lalani said.

The second half of the event allowed students to learn more about the opportunities within the Business School by meeting representatives from the Undergraduate Advising team, Christian Leadership and Ethics, the McBride Center for International Business, the Faith and Business Chapel, and student organizations. Students were also able to meet with their peer mentor through the Billington Peer Leader Program.

As the Business School prepares for many other community-building programs and events, Lalani hopes this activity offers students a positive outlook on their next few years.

“Welcome to Hankamer introduces our incoming students to the spirit of the Business School,” Lalani said. “It allows them to meet HSB leadership and experience our commitment to integrating faith into all we do.”
