Message from the Dean

Dean Conference Sandeep

The past year at the Hankamer School of Business (HSB) was one for the books. As we continued to produce impactful research and grow our experiential learning opportunities, we also took time to celebrate the Business School with our students, alumni, donors and fellow business education leaders.

On Feb. 29, 2024, Baylor University hosted the Collegiate Day of Prayer. As part of the activities, HSB served as a hosting site for students, faculty, staff and visitors to pray over our university, local community, nation and the world at large. While the event is rotating to another university, the Business School plans to continue hosting a prayer room each year as we grow closer in community with each other.

Additionally, Baylor and the Business School were selected to host the 2024 Council of Texas Business Deans Conference in October. It was a pleasure to welcome deans from across the state to visit our city, tour our facilities and learn more about Baylor Business.

There was one bittersweet moment for me this year. In November, I was announced as the incoming president of Berry College. While I am excited about this opportunity, I will greatly miss the connections I have made here in Waco. This has been a special place for me and my family – one that we will treasure for a lifetime.

As the Business School prepares for a change in leadership, I am excited for its future. Baylor’s President Linda Livingstone often remarks that “the world needs a Baylor.” I couldn’t agree more and I would add to that sentiment. It needs purposeful scholarship dedicated to improving lives through business. It needs principled leaders entering the workforce ready to make a difference. To put it briefly, the world needs a Hankamer School of Business.

While you read through the 2025 Dean’s Report, you’ll see examples of how HSB is shaping the future of business education and expanding our global footprint.

God Bless,
Sandeep Mazumder, PhD
William E. Crenshaw Endowed Dean
