There is Value in a Visit

Given the convenience of online education, it isn’t surprising that so many prospective students never visit a graduate school campus. To meet the various life situations in today’s world, Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business offers an in-person Executive MBA as well as Online MBA programs.

Baylor University believes there is value in a visit. Spending time at the Executive MBA (EMBA) campus in Dallas allows potential students to experience a class visit, the school and its culture, meet the faculty and interact with other students.

“The class visit gives prospects a real feel for the program’s intellectual rigor, teaching methods, and classroom dynamics,” said Joshua Glasser, associate director of Graduate Enrollment at the Business School. “Current students are available to sit with visitors. They provide context and give a brief overview of the class topic so visitors can follow along more easily.”

1. The power of an in-person visit.

When a prospective student is considering a phone call vs an in-person visit, Sharon Mawet, director of Graduate Enrollment, sees extra value in visiting the campus.

“When working professionals visit our Dallas campus, they don’t just observe – they engage,” Mawet said. “They sit in on live classes, ask faculty real-time questions, and witness the collaborative, high-impact learning environment that defines the Baylor Executive MBA. Many visitors leave with ideas they can apply at work the very next Monday.

“One visitor recently told us, ‘Visiting the Baylor Dallas campus reminded me how invigorating learning is. I left energized with actionable ideas for Monday morning.’ That’s the kind of spark we aim to ignite,” Mawet said.

Glasser agrees with this sentiment.

“Allowing prospective EMBA students to join a class visit and participate in a family meal with the current cohort is already a strong foundation for creating a meaningful and memorable visit experience,” he said. “These elements offer deep insight into both the academic environment and the community culture, two of the most critical factors in an executive’s decision-making process.”

2. The power of a virtual visit.

Those who cannot make time for an in-person visit should schedule a virtual visit, which also provides value, bringing the Baylor experience to life through online connection.

“Our virtual sessions are more than just information – they’re connection points,” Mawet said. “Prospective students get direct access to the enrollment team, learn about the application process, and most importantly, experience the Baylor culture of support and integrity firsthand.”

Whether it’s a virtual information session or a one-on-one call, Baylor’s enrollment team meets students where they are, both personally and professionally, striving to bring the Baylor experience to life, even virtually.

3. Baylor’s unbeatable personalized support.

Whether an Online MBA or an Executive MBA applicant, every prospective student is paired with an enrollment coordinator who serves as a guide, advocate, and resource throughout their journey.

“It’s not just about answering questions – it’s about helping them find the right fit for their goals,” Mawet said. “At Baylor, we lead with a servant’s heart. Our enrollment team is here to serve, not sell. We want students to feel confident, informed and supported from their first inquiry through graduation.”

No matter where you are in the application process, there will be an enrollment coordinator to walk alongside you.

4. Flexibility and accessibility during the visit and application processes.

A short welcome touchpoint with a program manager or admissions officer highlights what makes Baylor’s MBA programs distinctive. A short 1-on-1 with a faculty member, executive coach, or career advisor further personalizes the Baylor experience.

Flexibility in the types and times of visit options makes the application process more accessible to a wider range of businesspeople who are looking at EMBA and Online MBA options.

“We offer a range of visit options from class visits and info sessions to application workshops and one-on-one calls because we know working professionals need flexibility,” Mawet said. “Whether you’re exploring or ready to apply, there’s a visit format that fits your schedule.”

Glasser’s personal experience – a 20-year Army veteran with three tours of duty – makes him appreciate Baylor’s flexibility.

“I know how important it is to have options that work with your busy life,” he said. “That’s why the Hankamer School of Business built different ways for you to connect, whether that means joining an info session after work or sitting in on a class to see the experience firsthand. No matter where you are in the decision process, there’s a format that makes it easy to take the next step without adding stress to your schedule.”

5. What makes Baylor different

“What sets Baylor apart is the immediate ROI,” Mawet said. “Visitors often say they walk away with new insights, fresh energy, and a clear sense of belonging. That’s the Baylor difference—real people, real conversations, and real value from day one.”

Glasser sees Baylor’s mission as distinctive.

“Grounded in our Christian mission and brought to life through Baylor in Deeds, Baylor’s strategic plan, we integrate faith with academic excellence, foster a caring community, and prepare students to lead with integrity in a complex world,” he said. “From the classroom to the global stage, Baylor lives its values, equipping students to flourish, serving the world through research and service, and building a legacy of purpose that endures well beyond graduation.”

The Hankamer School of Business has earned national recognition for both our Executive MBA and Online MBA programs. Our Executive MBA program ranked No. 45 among U.S. universities' EMBA programs in 2024, while our Online MBA program ranked No. 38 in the 2025 rankings. These achievements reflect our commitment to delivering excellence in flexible, career-focused education.

Baylor’s membership in EMBAC – the Executive MBA Conference – connects students with a prestigious network of EMBA programs, students, and business leaders. Similarly, through the Online and Professional Education Association (UPCEA), the Online MBA and Dallas MBA students gain access to an expanding peer-to-peer network that extends beyond the virtual classroom.
