Embrace Humility
At work, my title may be owner, but I see my role as a steward. Especially with Right at Home, an in-home care company, we walk with families through vulnerable seasons marked by fear, stress and uncertainty. Our caregivers are the ones in the homes every day, carrying the emotional weight of the work.
Humility reminds me that I am not the one providing the hands-on care. My responsibility is to support them, remove obstacles, listen well and protect the dignity of the people we serve. Leadership, I have learned, is less about authority and more about humility.
That perspective was shaped during my time at the Hankamer School of Business. Professors modeled humility through honesty and transparency. In Marketing, Dr. Ann Mirabito openly spoke about career setbacks, reframing failure as growth. In Entrepreneurial Finance, Dr. Bill Petty invited leaders who shared both success and struggle without ego. Those moments taught me that strength and humility can coexist. Today, I strive to lead with composure, accountability and a servant’s heart, creating environments where others can thrive.
