Matt Douglas Named Associate Dean at Baylor Business School
Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business (HSB) today announced the appointment of Matthew Douglas, PhD, as associate dean for undergraduate programs effective June 1.
Dr. Douglas, an associate professor in the Department of Management and assistant director of the Center for Christian Leadership and Ethics (CL&E), has served at HSB since 2018, following a distinguished 22-year career as an officer with the United States Air Force.
“As we prayerfully considered the right person to serve as associate dean for undergraduate programs, Dr. Douglas’s name consistently rose to the top,” said David M. Szymanski, PhD, the William E. Crenshaw Endowed Dean at HSB. “His enthusiasm, dedication to excellence and innovative thinking will be a tremendous asset as he leads our undergraduate initiatives and advances student engagement and success.”
Dr. Douglas served at multiple U.S. and overseas locations during his Air Force career and began his academic career in 2014 as an assistant professor at the Air Force Institute of Technology, where he was also appointed dean of students for the Graduate School of Engineering and Management in 2017.
At Baylor, in addition to teaching in the Supply Chain Management major, Dr. Douglas is deeply engaged with students through the CL&E and through his leadership of Baylor Business mission experiences.
“I believe in the shared vision we have here at the Hankamer School of Business, that we will be the top business school because of our Christian values,” Dr. Douglas said. “We aim to develop students inside and outside of the classroom, shaping them into principled leaders who will serve as faithful stewards of God’s provision in the marketplace. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help advance this mission as associate dean.”
Dean Szymanski said Dr. Douglas will play a key role in expanding opportunities for Baylor Business undergraduate students to flourish during their time at Baylor and excel after graduation.
“We have a phenomenal student body supported by an outstanding faculty and staff here at the Hankamer School of Business,” Dean Szymanski said. “I’m excited for the continued growth and momentum we will experience with Dr. Douglas in this role.”
