Students Participate in Case Competitions
Army-Baylor Master of Health Administration (MHA) students demonstrated their analytical expertise and leadership skills this year through participation in two major national healthcare case competitions, competing against some of the nation’s top graduate programs.
The team’s competitive season began at the Penn State Health Policy and Administration Virtual Case Competition, where they joined 34 graduate MHA programs in addressing a real-world healthcare challenge. Participants were tasked with evaluating healthcare processes across Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and recommending improvements to specialty-care outcomes. While the team did not earn a top placement, the experience provided valuable insight into their analytical approach, presentation strategy and team dynamics.
Those lessons proved valuable later in the academic year when Army-Baylor students competed in the Seventh Annual Health Management Case Competition hosted by the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
Facing a field of 92 teams, students were challenged to develop a comprehensive five-year strategy for integrating artificial intelligence into the UCLA Health System. The Army-Baylor team crafted an innovative and practical implementation plan that earned an invitation to the in-person finals in Los Angeles in January.
Competing face-to-face against finalists from leading institutions, the team delivered a strong presentation demonstrating strategic foresight, healthcare management expertise and thoughtful application of emerging technology. Their performance resulted in a top-five finish among 92 competing teams, highlighting the caliber of Army-Baylor students and the program’s commitment to developing future healthcare leaders.
