Fulfilling Dreams from Generosity

Through generous scholarships, students are pursuing their dreams with focus, gratitude and purpose. Below are two examples of dreams becoming reality. 

Jada Isken

I moved to Texas during high school, and toured Baylor several times and fell in love with its rich traditions and close-knit campus community. This sense of belonging was mirrored in the accounting department, where I found a supportive and collaborative environment. I chose to major in accounting at the end of my sophomore year after taking a managerial accounting course. I quickly realized that accounting was a field where I could leverage my attention to detail and love for problem-solving. Additionally, the advanced tax courses I have taken in graduate school have solidified my decision to pursue a career in tax accounting. 

Receiving accounting scholarships has been a tremendous honor and has significantly eased the financial burden of pursing my Master’s in Accounting at Baylor University. Their support has allowed me to focus fully on my studies and dedicated more time to preparing for the CPA Exam. These scholarships have encouraged me to remain committed to my goals and strive for success in both my studies and future career. 

Muhammad Memon

I was born in Pakistan, raised in New York, and reside in Houston when I am not in Waco. I came to Baylor because of the amazing people I met during my tours, and because Waco was the perfect distance away from home.  I chose accounting because it makes sense to me, and I enjoy doing data analysis. I have always had a business mindset, and I believe that this career opportunity will help me thrive not just professionally, but also with my personal finances.

Thanks to the financial support from Baylor’s Accounting Department, I have been able to focus on preparing for the CPA exams while also staying fully engaged in my coursework during my time here at Baylor. It’s been a true blessing to enjoy my college experience with less financial burden. Throughout my time at Baylor, the support from the accounting department has consistently made higher education more accessible and affordable for me, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
