Baylor Business Earns Top 10 Global Spot in Entrepreneurship Research
Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business (HSB) has been ranked No. 8 in the world in the 2026 TCU Global University Entrepreneurship Research Productivity Rankings, placing Baylor among the most productive universities globally in entrepreneurship research for another year.
The TCU Global Rankings, produced by the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University, track research articles published in three leading academic journals, the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, based on authorship and university affiliation. The 2026 rankings reflect publications from 2021 to 2025.
Baylor's faculty published 14 articles across the three journals during that period, and Baylor is one of only two Texas universities in the global top 10. Faculty members also serve in key editorial roles with these journals, reflecting the high regard they have earned within the profession.
This recognition highlights HSB's continued leadership in advancing entrepreneurship as both a scholarly discipline and a field of practice.
Dr. Peter Klein, the W.W. Caruth Endowed Professor and Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation, said Baylor has long been a leader in undergraduate entrepreneurship education and programming and, consistent with its standing as an R1 university, has become one of the world's top centers for entrepreneurship research.
"We're delighted to remain one of the world's top-ranked entrepreneurship research groups, a testament to the investments Baylor and Hankamer have made in entrepreneurship research and programming over many years," Dr. Klein said.
He added that the department's research success is closely tied to what happens in Baylor's classrooms and with entrepreneurs in the community.
"At Baylor, research, teaching and outreach are closely intertwined," he said. "Our faculty bring their research findings into the classroom and use their work with students and professional entrepreneurs to motivate their research questions, to generate data for analysis, and to shape and refine their findings."
Dr. Klein pointed to the Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise as a key way the program connects its research with students and the business community.
"The Baugh Center's student and community outreach programs help to bring together theory and practice," he said. "The programs' design and execution are guided by research findings while providing data, context and motivation for researchers."
The Department of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation at HSB offers a comprehensive portfolio of programs that includes undergraduate, graduate and doctoral-level study as well as experiential learning opportunities through initiatives such as the Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise, the Business and Innovation Living-Learning Community, and the Baylor Angel Network.
