Internship Insight: This summer, I was a Finance and Business Operations Intern at Seed Real Estate in Lisbon, Portugal. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work with a team from over nine countries. I found and presented possible enhancements to a Real Estate Investment software to executive leadership, helped implement a new CRM, and created a comprehensive training manual for new agents covering aspects of the real estate transaction process in Portugal. I learned about the legal, financial, and sales aspects of Real Estate transactions and investments as well as cultural practices in real estate unique to Portugal. My internship enabled me to immerse myself in a new culture and to gain experience through working with professionals at an internationally award-winning firm.
Michelle Montes
Major: International Business and Finance
Program: Baylor Business: London
Internship Insight: My internship abroad really allowed me to utilize concepts my major had prepared me with while learning different skills daily. With the drastic difference in culture, I applied my international business skills and dove into understanding different cultures through business. Yes, I learned many quantitative skills but, most importantly, learned the importance of being well-cultured in today’s global economy. From asking about financial statements to asking where the best fish and chips were, my internship abroad grew me into a more well-rounded student ready to dive into more cultures!

Major: Management
Minors: American Sign Language, Rhetoric and Public Discourse
Program: Baylor Business: Internship Dublin
Internship Insight: This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to intern with Volunteer Ireland, a national non-profit. During my time there, I worked on many rewarding and impactful projects with major companies like Amazon and AbbVie. One of my favorite experiences was a week-long project in Castlebar renovating a special needs school, where we led two groups of AbbVie employees each day as part of their Week of Possibilities. That experience, and my time in Ireland as a whole, gave me more than just hands-on project management skills, it offered cultural insights, meaningful connections, and a chance to learn more about myself along the way.

Internship Insight: I’m absolutely loving my internship at Flame Communications. It’s been a fantastic fit for me both professionally and personally. The team has been incredibly supportive, and I’m especially grateful to my manager, Florence, who has gone above and beyond to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. This business development internship has pushed me to grow in many ways, from refining my communication and pitch skills to gaining a deeper understanding of PR and client relations in a fast-paced agency setting. I’m excited to return to the U.S. and apply everything I’ve learned. I truly feel like I’ve grown tremendously over the past few weeks.

Major: Finance and S3E
Program: Baylor Business: Internship Asia
Internship Insight: During my internship, I was able to apply both of my majors to better improve the overall operations of a sports management business. On the finance side, I was able to create excel sheets to find pricing scenarios for the company. Through these numbers, I was able to create accurate pricing sheets for group packages of pickleball and padel, which were implemented the month following my leave from the company. On the marketing side, I helped design banners for a social pickleball event we ran. This event turned out to be a success and we sold out the first 5 social events in less than a week! This internship helped prepare me for the future in understanding overall business operations. I now know the keys to success in a sports management position, and I know how important hard work and flexibility is in order to keep the company afloat.
