Robbins Healthcare MBA Core Competencies
A Program the Delivers Transformative Learning
At Baylor, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom. The Robbins Healthcare MBA provides a rich landscape of integrative and experiential activities designed to build your competencies, broaden your perspective, and prepare you to lead with confidence.
In your first fall semester, you will participate in a global health immersion experience called Global Opportunities in Leadership Development (GOLD), offered in partnership with the McBride Center for International Business. This journey involves visits with public, private, and governmental healthcare organizations, offering a firsthand look at cross-cultural differences in healthcare delivery, management, and leadership. You also engage in several cultural experiences. Past destinations include San Jose, Costa Rica and Barcelona, Spain.
In your 1st spring semester, you will attend the annual American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Congress on Healthcare Leadership, the nation’s largest gathering of healthcare executives. This event is an unparalleled opportunity to connect with senior leaders and peers, attend educational sessions led by industry experts, and build your professional network.
Throughout the fall and spring semesters, you will take part in site visits to local healthcare organizations. These visits allow you to gain firsthand insights into operations within a hospital setting as you rotate through different departments. You will translate your observations into a written report and a formal presentation, sharpening your analytical and communication skills.
Put your skills to the test through a series of case competitions. You will participate in the Hankamer School of Business Ethics Case Competition in the fall and an internal healthcare finance case competition in the spring. Selected students also have the opportunity to represent Baylor at national case competitions including the University of Alabama (UAB) Health Administration Case Competition, the Trinity University Healthcare PRISm Pitch Competition, the Business School Alliance for Health Management (BAHM) Case Competition, the Ohio State University First-Year Healthcare Case Competition, and the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) Case Competition.
