Hankamer School of Business Celebrates 100 Years of Business Education
Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business (HSB) is launching a two-year long centennial celebration at the HSB Alumni Homecoming Reception on Friday, Oct. 27.
“A lot has happened over the past century,” Sandeep Mazumder, the William E. Crenshaw Endowed Dean of HSB, said. “Through it all, the Business School has come to be known for its high-quality education and world-renowned thought leadership, all while retaining our Christian mission.”
The reception serves as the kickoff event for the Business School’s 100th anniversary and will feature a projection mapping show, appearances by state and local government officials, and live entertainment.
“We are excited to celebrate this achievement with alumni and friends of the Business School,” Mazumder said. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acknowledge our past while we look to the next century of Baylor Business.”
The fall 2023 semester marks 100 years since the first students enrolled in what was known as the Business Administration Department in 1923. The celebration will last through May 2025, recognizing the first graduates of the Business School who earned their BBA degrees in 1925.
Other events are planned in honor of the centennial celebration, including a Homecoming parade entry, a limited-edition commemorative book set and centennial-themed apparel.
In honor of the Business School’s centennial celebration, Emerson and Cecilia Hankamer graciously gifted $250,000, which established the Hankamer School of Business Centennial Champions fund. This fund will assist HSB in developing, promoting and executing activities and strategic initiatives in recognition of its centennial.
Alumni, students, faculty and friends are all invited to become HSB Centennial Champions with a gift of $100 or more to the fund.
