Case Competition

The 8th Annual Robbins Case Competition in Healthcare Management will be held on Friday, October 18, at the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation at Baylor University.

Purpose

To provide a forum for master’s-level students to participate in a national case competition in healthcare management with a distinct financial/quantitative emphasis.

Benefits of Participation

  • National recognition for the participating programs and for the students who compete
  • Opportunity for the attending students and faculty to network with students and faculty from other select programs
  • Opportunity for the attending students and faculty to interact with healthcare industry professionals who serve as judges, case developers, and competition sponsors, with the primary goal of benefitting the students and their respective programs
  • Opportunities for academic-industry partnerships to be formed, for internship/residency and future employment opportunities to be identified, and for a valuable transfer of knowledge from healthcare professionals to students and faculty to take place

Awards

First Place$12,000 total award$3,000 awarded to each team member and $3,000 to the program
Second Place$8,000 total award$2,000 awarded to each team member and $2,000 to the program
Third Place$4,000 total award$1,000 awarded to each team member and $1,000 to the program
Best Presenters$1,500 total award$500 awarded to best presenter from each of the three preliminary round panels
Best Q&A$1,500 total award$500 awarded for best Q&A from each of the three preliminary round panels

Competition Information and Logistics

  • Participation is by invitation only. Twelve teams will participate in the competition. No fee to enter.
  • Each team will consist of three current students from a full-time CAHME-accredited or BAMH member program (not an executive program).
  • A faculty advisor from each program is invited to accompany the team. One student observer who is not on the competition team may also attend the competition.
  • Students and advisors arrive in Waco on Wednesday.
  • Teams receive the case and final instructions during the competition launch on Thursday morning.
  • Teams work on the case throughout Thursday (lunch and dinner provided).
  • Teams present in the preliminary round on Friday morning in three panels.
  • Teams attend a luncheon on Friday for the announcement of the three finalist teams.
  • The final round will be held Friday afternoon.
  • The competition concludes with an awards ceremony and reception on Friday afternoon.
