Program Residency
Applied Learning
The Robbins MBA Healthcare Program requires a paid, nine-month Executive Administrative Residency with a progressive health organization. As an integral part of the Robbins MBA Healthcare Program, the residency is designed to supplement coursework completed in the first year and to further develop mastery of the program’s competencies.
With a residency placement rate of 100%, every student has the opportunity to receive guidance from well-qualified, practicing healthcare executives, apply and test administrative theory in practical work situations and develop leadership skills in an actual healthcare organization.
Residency Structure
Students prepare an initial residency plan outlining their objectives, activities, projects and readings.
During the residency, they also complete:
- Monthly Activity Reports - Progress report of residency plan accomplishments
- Major Project(s) – A management project(s) utilizing skills and competencies gained from the academic portion of the HCA program
- Presentations – Virtual presentation given to peers; final presentation to the preceptor and senior executives
In addition to an assigned preceptor, program faculty serve as academic advisors during the residency year. Faculty complete at least one on-site visit with the preceptor and resident in the fall and/or spring. Competency assessments by the preceptor continue in the residency year providing valuable feedback to your professional development.
Residency Placement
The Robbins Healthcare MBA’s robust and growing network of industry partners allows students to complete their administrative residencies in healthcare organizations across the country. Due to the program’s location, most of the current residency sites are in Texas. However, students have been placed in healthcare organizations as far west as California and as far east as New York.
Students are placed in an organization that aligns with their strengths and interests. Over the course of the academic portion of the program, students meet frequently with faculty to discuss potential residency sites and are eventually matched with a healthcare organization that will mutually benefit the student and organization. Student salaries vary according to region; however, all salaries are sufficient to cover basic living expenses.
