The small size of the Robbins Healthcare MBA cohort facilitates a high-touch, personalized learning environment where faculty and students connect daily. The Robbins Healthcare MBA is designed to develop each student wholistically through a competency-based curriculum that addresses both analytical and interpersonal skills in an environment undergirded by Christian values and Baylor’s Christian mission.
Premier Partnerships
The Robbins Healthcare MBA partners with premier health management education and professional associations and is a member of the Business School Alliance for Health Management programs (BAHM), Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), American College of Healthcare Executive Higher Education Network, as well as the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) Graduate Education in Health Management Leadership Council.
Program Mission
The mission of the Robbins MBA Healthcare Program is to promote the study of healthcare administration guided by the shared mission, Christian commitment, and values of Baylor University and the Hankamer School of Business. In this context, the program will:
- Provide early careerists who possess a passion for serving others with the requisite quantitative and qualitative skills to prepare them for executive positions in health industry organizations.
- Encourage program faculty to engage in scholarly activity, ongoing intellectual development, and community service to support and strengthen their primary responsibility of providing quality teaching.
- Promote professional development activities for students, alumni, faculty, and other program stakeholders.
- Develop a network of dedicated preceptors to provide students with the practical experience required for successful development as executive leaders in the health services industry.
- Contribute to state, regional, and national dialogues on health economics, health policy, and healthcare administration through participation and engagement in national and regional forums such as the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), the Business School Alliance for Health Management (BAHM), the Texas Hospital Association (THA), and national case competitions.
- Create a culture that fosters the development of strategic alliances and partnerships that further the program's mission. Competency-Based Education
The Robbins Healthcare MBA curriculum is based on a set of competencies developed, reviewed, and updated regularly by healthcare industry experts. In addition to assessments in each core and healthcare MBA course, competencies are assessed throughout the program through both direct and indirect methods including self-evaluations, general healthcare body of knowledge exam, and a comprehensive oral board examination at the end of the program.

Experiential Learning
Apart from the required coursework, students partake in various integrative and experiential learning activities that contribute to their competency development. These activities encompass hospital rotations (fall and spring), an international trip (fall), Baylor Business Ethics Competition (fall), ACHE Congress (spring), Executive Leadership Speaker Series (fall and spring), and Healthcare Finance Internal Case Competition (spring). Selected students also participate in four or five national case competitions.
