Andrew Schmitz

Professional Summary

Andrew Schmitz, ThM, is a Lecturer in the U.S. Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration and a U.S. Army chaplain. He serves as a bioethicist and ethics instructor at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence and on Brooke Army Medical Center’s Institutional Bioethics Committee. He is endorsed by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

His teaching and research focus on clinical and organizational ethics, military medical ethics, natural law and the moral foundations of medicine and the profession of arms. He completed a fellowship in clinical medical ethics at the University of Chicago’s MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics and was a Fellow with FASPE (Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics). He is pursuing a PhD in Ethics at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary under the supervision of Dr. Andrew T. Walker.
