Martha Agee
Senior Lecturer
Professional Summary
Martha Agee, JD has served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Business Law for more than 25 years. As a senior lecturer, Agee equips students with the legal knowledge to be successful in their future careers. Specifically, she emphasizes the application of the law to fact situations and not merely an understanding of the legal theories.
Agee received her BBA with a concentration in Accounting from Baylor University, was a certified public accountant and worked in managerial accounting for a political subdivision of the state and a large wholesale/retail merchandiser. After working in accounting for about a decade, she returned to Baylor, received her Juris Doctor in law, and practiced as an attorney for more than nine years. She worked for private law firms, and as an assistant city attorney for the City of Waco, where her areas of practice primarily included business and commercial law. To stay in touch with the future needs of her students, she has conducted seminars on business law topics for private industry, the Institute for Supply Management and for the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas. She is also on the board of directors of an international business involved in the manufacture of rechargeable batteries. With extensive experience in local governmental law, she serves as Vice-Chair of her community’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
Honors received by Agee include the Collins Outstanding Professor Award (selected by vote of all senior students) and the Most Popular Professor in 2007. She received the Outstanding Lecturer of Baylor University in 2006 and the Hankamer Teaching Excellence Award in 2005 and 2018.
