The International Business Advisory Council supports the continued growth and strategic direction of Baylor's International Business Program by connecting the major with the evolving needs of employers, industry leaders and the global business community.
Baylor's International Business Advisory Council brings together experienced professionals, alumni, and friends of the program who are committed to advancing the success of our students and strengthening the connection between the classroom and the global marketplace.
The Council helps shape the strategic direction of the International Business Program by advising on curriculum, supporting outreach to employers and business leaders, mentoring students, promoting the major, assisting with scholarship initiatives, and helping identify opportunities for student recruitment and career placement.

Advisory Council Members
Jim AndersonETCetera International, Inc. Jim Anderson is the owner of ETCetera International, Inc., an export management and consulting company that assists small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with go-to-market strategies. He also served as a clinical professor at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business for 15 years, teaching courses in International Marketing, Global Business Development, and Nonprofit & Social Enterprise Marketing. Additionally he served as the International Projects Manager for Baylor’s McBride Center for International Business. Jim’s career has focused on developing new business, marketing, selling, and project management. He began by expanding his family’s industrial manufacturing business globally during the first half of his career. He earned his BBA in Marketing from Baylor University and completed his Master of International Management at Thunderbird School of Global Management (now a part of Arizona State University). His greatest accomplishments include building relationships and making deals around the world, teaching numerous students at Baylor, and his family. He has participated in several organizations currently serving on the Board of Directors for the National Association of District Export Councils and serves as Chair of the North Texas District Export Council. He was a founding member of the World Liquid Gas Association in 1987 serving on their inaugural board. His advice highlights the importance of asking questions, being a team player, and thinking globally. |

| Charles CochranKPMG Charles is a Principal in KPMG’s Advisory Services practice and serves as the Lead Account Partner within the Global Japanese Practice. As Lead Account Partner, Charles works closely with key client executives across organizations and helps ensure that KPMG brings the most qualified professionals to advise clients on strategic initiatives as well as to maximize ongoing KPMG value. Over his career, he has lived a total of 11 years in the Asia Pacific region, including postings in Tokyo, Sydney and Shanghai and has experience working on strategic cross-border and cross-cultural initiatives for North American and Asian clients. He also spent more than 2 years in Latin America focused on the technology to transform the rapidly evolving telecommunications environment there. |

| Mel DrewsNorth Texas District Export Council Mel retired as Vice President Global Strategic Accounts from Scan Global Logistics in 2025. He is currently a consultant advising the CEO and Executive Team of DGM-USA, a leading Hazardous Management and Packing Company based in Houston Texas. He has been in the Supply Chain field for over 35 years with shippers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers. In this role he managed global strategy, budgets, and operations to support the goals and growth of multinational clients. He is the 1st Vice Chair of the North Texas District Export Council helping guide export growth in North Texas, a member of the Baylor University International Business Advisory Council, and a member of the Dallas College International Business Advisory Board. He graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Public Administration and a Master of Arts in International Management. |

| Aquiles J. Garza, Jr.Penã Garza Consulting A. Jimmy Garza is an accomplished entrepreneur and leader with extensive expertise in business consulting and development, international trade, public service and political advisory roles. As the Managing Partner of Peña Garza Consulting, Mr. Garza provides strategic insights and leverages his extensive knowledge and network to deliver impactful solutions in advisory services, finance, fundraising, and team building, positioning him as a cornerstone of the firm’s success. Mr. Garza specializes in the import/export, international trade, fresh produce, and beverage distribution sectors, with a particular focus on U.S. distribution of imported food and beverage brands from Mexico and other global markets. His commitment to authenticity and natural products has resonated strongly with American consumers, enabling him to successfully establish and expand the U.S. presence of several notable brands, including Bebo Fresh, Tehuacan Brillante Mineral Water, Agua de Piedra, Dixon Boots, Olsen Stezler and Blackwolf App. His efforts have resulted in numerous contracts and strategic partnerships, solidifying his reputation as a leader in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry. Beyond his role at Peña Garza Consulting, Mr. Garza is currently a Founding Board Member of the Viva Fresh Expo, hosted by the Texas International Produce Association. Additionally, he provides strategic guidance as an Advisory Board Member at Texas Regional Bank, where he focuses on performance optimization and risk management. Mr. Garza’s influence extends into public service, where he has made significant contributions to government and economic development. From 2010 to 2015, he served as a City Commissioner in Pharr, Texas, gaining critical experience in municipal governance. His political advisory roles include serving as Senior Advisor to Dan Patrick’s 2014 campaign for Lieutenant Governor, Finance Co-Chair for George P. Bush’s campaigns for Texas General Land Office and Attorney General, and as an appointee to the Governor’s Small Business Task Force Advisory Board, where he advised on small business policies across Texas. He has also held positions on several influential boards, including the Hidalgo County Regional Mobility Authority, Hidalgo County Tax Appraisal District, and the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge Board, the third-largest Texas trading port of entry with Mexico. Mr. Garza actively advises and operates within the entities he is associated with, working alongside professionals who share his vision and values. |

Lawrence has over 40 years of multinational business experience in international market entry and business strategies, business/economic development, operations and finance in over 25 countries and in multiple industries. An entrepreneur, c-suite executive, private angel investor, educator and business mentor/coach, Lawrence has held C-level positions in several multinational organizations, has co-founded two multinational start-up companies A Canadian and USA Citizen, Lawrence is a Graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (Canada), College of Commerce and a CA/CPA (a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada), and alumni of KPMG. Throughout her career, she has advised executives worldwide during periods of transformation, acquisitions, geopolitical uncertainty, regulatory change, and supply chain disruption. She brings a unique combination of governance, law, public affairs, enterprise risk, and international business experience that helps organizations grow while avoiding the costly mistakes that often accompany rapid change. Susan has held senior executive roles in both the private and public sectors, including almost two decades at AMD (NASDAQ) contributing to its turnaround and growth. She is president and director of the Austin Council on Foreign Affairs, is director and immediate past chair of the Austin Community Foundation, and has received multiple honors for her leadership, including the Fazzino Award for Innovation Excellence in the technology industry. In addition to maintaining a Texas law license, Susan holds National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) membership and directorship certification. |

Known as an outspoken advocate for exporting American-made goods, he previously sat on the President's Export Council under the Obama Administration. |
| John RobinsonInternational Technical Development Management, LLC John L. Robinson is a consultant for the aerospace/defense industry who previously worked for Northrop Grumman Corporation for over two decades, developing and implementing defense offset programs in Asia, Europe, and South America. He currently serves on the Texas Camino Real District Export Council, where he was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. Robinson is a guest lecturer on defense offset, U.S. commercial and business diplomacy, and intercultural management issues at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the University of Texas at Austin’s Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and McCombs School of Business. He is the founder of the John L. Robinson Educational Fund, which promotes the study of U.S.-Arab World commercial and business diplomacy. Robinson is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a BA in Plan II Honors (Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts) and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies, and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, where he earned an MALD in Law and Diplomacy (International Affairs). |
